About
The Martha’s Vineyard Campground began as a vacant wooded lot in 1968. The land was purchased by Charles and Jeanne Feeney from a retired doctor living in Vineyard Haven. Charles “Chuck” Feeney was an aerospace engineer at the time and was always taking his kids camping. His dream was to have a place for the family to camp and call it their own. So together with his wife and five children he converted a bus into a camper and carved out a site amongst the wild blueberry bushes and scrub oak trees. Our family fell in love with the island. We discovered all the island has to offer and found it irresistible. We were the tourists of yesteryear and what attracted our family back then still exists today: beautiful beaches, fabulous fishing, quaint villages and amazing sunsets. From the rolling hills of Aquinnah to the dunes of Katama, there is no place on earth like it.

Great stay!
We had a great 4 night stay here in our TT. We arrived after the office closed and they called us before hand to let us know that Bill would be there to greet us. Bill was super friendly and helpful when we arrived. Our preordered firewood was also at the site when we arrived as well. It is a more rustic campsite and doesn’t have the bells and whistles of the bigger corporate owned campgrounds. There’s plenty to do on the island itself so it’s not an issue at all. The kids enjoyed the playground and we made use of the rec room above the store on a rainy morning. All in all we enjoyed our stay here and will return again in the future.

The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They try their hardest to make the check-in process informational while also seemless and short and sweet. While the facilities may not be the most modern (I personally love the rustic appeal and genuine history of the place) they are well taken care of and one of the cleanest campgrounds I’ve been to. I’ve camped in both shoulder (May/June) and peak season (July/August) and while the shoulder season may be slower it’s quiet and peaceful and dogs are allowed. Peak season is full of activities on the campground (activities for the kids such as tie-dyeing, candy bar bingo, etc. They also have live-music every weekend and food trucks and ice cream stands). Honestly, one of my favorite stays!

Peaceful Stay on Martha’s Vineyard
Great stay at the only campground on Martha’s Vineyard! Immaculate tent sites as well as bath houses, very clean shower and toilet facilities. Camp store is well stocked, including fire wood, and staying here you are close to all of the quaint MV towns…..whether by car, bike rental, or the island bus line that goes by the camp entrance. The ferry to Nantucket is only a few minutes away too for a day excursion! Very personable staff…..be sure to make at least a few minutes each day to pet the campground dogs!!

The only place to camp on the island
We have been going to this campground for years - it's the only place to camp on the island, and the only affordable way to stay on the island. The best thing about the campground is that it is wooded, and pretty much all the sites are surrounded on three sides by trees and shrubbery. So even though the sites are close, they feel somewhat private. The bathrooms are clean but always busy, but there are a few outdoor showers which are awesome! Unlike the cramped and humid indoor showers, the outside showers are roomy and very private and the open air makes them more comfortable on a hot, muggy day. There's a playground, a store with wifi outside, a game room which looks like something from the 80s, lol, and a small coin-op laundry room. Fire rings at each site plus a large community fire pit for those who don't feel like the hassle of building a fire themselves. SKUNKS!!! The skunks are super used to people, so you just have to ignore them, and they won't bother you. The young staff members are mostly from the Ukraine, etc., and are pleasant but often don't speak much English. The owners are not super friendly. A huge bonus is that the bus stops right at the entrance, so if you were without a car, it would be possible to camp here anyway (I've seen many people come in with the very basics pulled behind in carts or wagons, or back-packed in). The vineyard is amazing, but lodging is EXPENSIVE. Even though this place is pricey and continues to raise the rates, it's still cheaper than anyplace else.

Unprofessional staff- unfriendly
Have vacationed on MV for years. This was a horrific experience. The male head staff member was unfriendly, never a hello and down right creepy. He leered at passers and walked his large dog without concern for campers. He watched children as if they were menaces. Told them to quiet during regular awake hours while they played in the fields or rode bikes. Never felt safe there. Beware

Way, way overpriced
This is a campground just like any other family campground. It’s a good campground, but every year they raise their already ridiculous prices and they increase their minimum night stays. This used to be a semi decent value for what you got. It is definitely not worth the money anymore. Greedy greedy owners.

Awesome Experience!
There aren’t a lot of options on MV for camping, and MVFC hasn’t let that fact diminish their attention to detail in providing a clean, well maintained and active base camp for those seeking to explore the area, or just enjoy a wonderful camp-out with a ferry ride as an extra benefit. Ali and team were most accommodating and helpful, even taking the extra time to measure the campsite ahead of our arrival to ensure our new Patriot Camper X1 would fit! The bathroom and showers were near spotless despite the summer crowd, and it was common to see cleaning occurring throughout the day. Although we were interested in sightseeing the island as first time visitors, it was clear that there were many daytime and nighttime activities that had a lot of action….kickball and basketball games were non-stop and the community fire pit area is a nice touch. They even had a group painting event one evening! The other thing we noticed was that despite the large crowd, the posted quiet hours were indeed quiet! It was such a great spot that we attempted to cancel the second half of our trip and enjoy a few more days at MVFC, but as expected, they were booked up! On a side note, we had the chance to take the MV Governor ferry on the way back to the mainland. I mention this because it’s a smaller “open deck” ferry which in my opinion was a more unique experience than the other mega-ferrys in the fleet.
All-in-all a near flawless experience with a family that takes pride in what they do…well done!

Great week vacation
The campground was easy to find and drive around in. Clean level campsite with hard sand base. Very friendly staff. Close to all the towns for activities, beaches, and dining. Bus stop right at front of campground. Very reasonable price for being able to stay on Martha’s Vineyard. Easy booking for campsite and ferry to get here. Definitely recommend seeing the lighthouses. And of course the Island Alpaca farm right done the street. Excellent trip.

Perfectly located on the island
I love this campground so much that I come to Martha’s Vineyard once a year to stay here. To be able to camp comfortably on this island and have access to all the island has to offer without spending an arm and a leg is what I love. You can take the ferry to Vineyard Haven ($15 round trip) and catch the island bus ($30 for a week pass) that will drop you right in front of the campground.
It’s a rather large campground that has a lot of trees and each site is fairly large with a picnic table. At the front of the campground they have the summer RVs and about 20 rustic cabins if you’re not into tenting. This last year I stayed in a spot along the grass and it felt separate but with a great view of the office and all the activity on the grass. The camp store offers everything from postcards to air mattresses. For those of you, like myself, who don’t bring a car they even have a air pump at the office if you need it.
There are outdoor showers and indoor showers where the bathrooms are as well as laundry facilities.
The campground is family owned and the next generation just took over a year ago. This last Christmas they sent me a Christmas card... They are making great new changes and it definitely shows!

Excellent oasis on a busy island
This campground is neat and rules are strict but provide for a comfortable stay for those of us who don’t like to party late night. Bathrooms are so clean and conveniently located. Store sells anything you might have forgotten. And the island is just a fun summer tradition - camping makes it so much more affordable at the height of the season. Keep your food sealed tight because the skunks use this campground as much as humans do.

I love this campground!
Pay $300-$500/night for a hotel or this campground for $35/night? I’ll take the campground any day. Several years now I’ve packed a suitcase w a tent, tarp, air mattress and sleeping bag and had some of the best weeks of my life! The bus picks up and drops off just outside the campground and with a weekly bus pass you can be anywhere on the island within minutes. Every day was a new adventure to Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, Menemsha etc. Large shared male and female bathroom/shower complex next to the camp store and office as well as an outdoor shower for those more adventurous. Most sites have electric and water nearby. The management/owner takes pride in the campground and loves what he does. It’s the best way to experience Martha’s Vineyard!

Crowded, but also, Martha’s Vineyard
This camp site was busting at the seams. But also, not much to complain about when you’re on Martha’s Vineyard. Would recommend an air b n b instead. But great option for last minute if available.
